Group suggests 4 elected municipal consultative committees

2017-11-14 07:57     Comment:0

The grassroots New Macau Association (NMA) said yesterday that elections for the members of the government-proposed consultative committee of Macau’s non-political municipal organisation would fully comply with the spirit of the related articles of the Macau Basic Law.

The NMA activists also proposed the setting up of four elected district-level consultative committees.

The group also slammed the government for ruling out the possibility of the consultative committee’s members being elected by popular vote by insisting that a government-entrusted entity necessarily requires all its members to be appointed by the government.
