Swimming pool closures may remain in effect

2018-09-14 07:19     Comment:1

According to a meeting with the Sports Bureau (ID) yesterday, the five public swimming pools with shortened open hours or completely closed are likely to remain affected for the remainder of the year even though the 24 lifeguards who were earlier on strike have already returned to work, lawmaker Sulu Sou Ka Hou said yesterday.

Sou made the comments in a media briefing after attending yesterday’s meeting – which was attended by the bureau’s president Pun Weng Kun, outside the bureau in Avenida Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues in Zape.

Currently, the opening hours of the Taipa Central Park Swimming Pool, Carmo Swimming Pools, and the Hac Sa Park Swimming Pool are shortened while the Cheoc Van Swimming Pool, and the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Swimming Pool are temporarily closed due to a “lifeguard shortage” which was caused by an employment dispute.
