A total of 1,637 citizens participated in an online vote on universal suffrage for electing the chief executive between Sunday, when the ballot was launched, and 4 p.m. yesterday, lawmaker-cum-activist Sulu Sou Ka Hou, vice-president of the non-establishment New Macau Association (NMA), told reporters yesterday.

Representatives of the association spoke to the media yesterday afternoon on its premises in Rua do Tarrafeiro about the voting rate and their response to chief executive candidate Ho Iat Seng’s political platform.

The online ballot entitled “Vote on Universal Suffrage for Chief Executive Election” lasts until August 25, with the aim of providing a platform for the public to express their views on the matter, Sou said.
