Up until Saturday, the government’s “single account portal” had over 100,000 registered users, and within two days over 8,000 residents used the system to submit their proof of life, a Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) said yesterday.
Last week, the bureau announced a new e-service for residents that was launched on New Year’s Day, which allows locals to use their “single account portal”– an account combining various public services provided by different government entities – to submit their proof of life to the Social Security Fund (FSS), Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) and Pension Fund (FP).
According to the statement, between Friday and Saturday over 8,000 residents submitted the proof of life via their “single account portal”, noting that around 1,000 users had their proof of life submitted by their spouse or children. The statement also pointed out that in the two days over 1,300 residents living in the mainland, Australia, France, Hong Kong, Portugal, Singapore and the United States had submitted their proof of life via the portal.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 36 and Article 38 of Law 4/2010, the continuity of the old-age pension and disability pension payments depends on the beneficiary’s proof of life in January each year. The statement noted that if the beneficiaries of old-age or disability pensions do not provide the proof of life by the end of January each year, their pension payments will be suspended from the following April onwards. The statement added that the beneficiaries of the IAS disability and old-age subsidies who do not live in Macau must submit their proof of life before August 31 every year.
If a recipient fails to submit his or her proof of life by the end of January, in order to continue to receive their pension payment, they must have their local ID card (BIR) with them when they visit one of the three government service centres as soon as possible to update their record.
