The 32nd Macau Arts Festival (MAF) is slated to take place from April 29 to June 2, with a Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) statement noting that it will feature 18 programmes and “a series of outreach programmes, in a total of over 200 activities covering theatre, dance, music and visual arts”.
Speaking with reporters after a presentation of the festival yesterday at the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) in Nape, IC President Leong Wai Man told reporters that the budget for this year’s MAF is 24 million patacas, a 3 million pataca increase from last year.
Leong told reporters that the increase was mainly due to having more outreach programmes this year, which according to the IC statement, are numbered at 27.
This year’s MAF will also continue to focus on programmes from Macau and the mainland, with a presentation of foreign productions through methods such as screenings of stage performances and the integration of virtual reality (VR).
Leong also said that there were plans to invite some performers from Hong Kong to physically attend the festival’s closing ceremony, while video recordings from various foreign artists from places such as London and Moscow will also be shown.
Moreover, Leong also said that the pandemic situation will be assessed to determine whether there are cancellations or delays required, noting that an “active assessment” needed to be done.
Online reservations of ticket sales
Tickets for the programmes and outreach activities are available at the Macau Ticketing Network from 10 a.m. on April 3, with the statement adding that ticketing services at outlets as well as telephone and online bookings will be available on the first day of ticket sales in line with the COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures.
An online reservation system will also be set up at the ticketing network, with the public required to “reserve their ticketing slot and their desired outlet through the online reservation system” on Thursday with their mobile phone number if they want to purchase their tickets on the first day of ticket sales.
Tickets can also be purchased at various discounts, the statement added.
