The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) said in a statement yesterday that those who graduated from a tertiary education institution between 2019 and 2022 can sign up for the “Creating Better Job Perspectives for 2022” from now until July 8, adding that 1,780 positions will be provided over the whole programme with 1,030 positions for the participants during the first phase of the programme.
A bachelor’s degree is the minimum academic requirement to be able to join the programme.
The statement noted that in order to create diverse internship opportunities for the graduates, this year 57 companies have joined the programme, up from the 42 last year, including the leisure industry, public utilities, banking and insurance, construction engineering, medical care, airlines, retail and technology, which will provide a total of 1,780 positions over the whole programme.
Graduates who join the programme and start their three-month internship period will be given an internship allowance of 8,000 patacas each month, or 50 patacas per hour, and they will be insured by the employer that hires them, the statement noted.
The statement said that graduates can sign up through the DSAL website or via the applicant’s “Macao One Account” to apply for up to two internships, after registering, their information, such as curriculum vitae, will be submitted to the companies for selection, and the interviews will start next Wednesday. The statement added that the results of the interviews will be announced next month, and interns can start work in August or September.
The statement underlined that although applicants can apply for the positions they want based on the industry, association, or company they prefer, they can only apply for the other if the quota for the position they want is full. Therefore, the bureau urged the applicants who are interested in the programme to submit their data as early as they can.
The programme was first launched in 2020. The bureau said in the statement that the participants in the programme should cherish the chance to gain work experience and strengthen their employment competitiveness through the three-month internship period.

Meanwhile, DSAL Deputy Director Chan Un Tong said yesterday during a press conference at the bureau about the programme that in the past two years, a total of 1,000 participants completed their internships, and 590 of them were offered full-time positions in the companies they interned with in the programme, but only 385 of them stayed with the companies, adding that although local companies are willing to keep the interns, the final decision is up to the interns.
Moreover, DSAL Employment Department Job Supervisor Wong Sio Kuan said during the press conference that the bureau is planning six workshops, three of which will be online, for young people to learn how to write their résumé.
Asked by a reporter, Wong said that the programme’s dedicated website (https://www.dsal.gov.mo/zh_tw/standard/employment_recruitment_local_intern_2022.html) is only available in Chinese. She said that those who don’t speak the language but are interested in participating in the programme can contact the bureau by email for assistance.
