According to a recent statement by the Macau Association for the Advancement of Diversified Development (MAADD), around 50 artworks, including paintings and English-language poems are on display in an exhibition titled “In the Name of Love” at Mong-Ha Villas that runs until June 28.
The statement said that the works were created by local artist Lei Ka Man who hopes to promote English-language poems in Macau through art and words while injecting more colours and energy into the lives of people who visit the exhibition. The statement added that the exhibition’s theme revolves around “Love”, in which Lei uses abstract paintings and words to express love on different levels and with different feelings and aspects.
According to the statement, Lei is an English literature lover and local artist whose photography had been displayed at the Hong Kong exhibition “New Trend 2008”. She is also a secondary school teacher who wrote over 100 English-language poems with her students that were collected in “The Sound of Words”.
The statement noted that the “In the Name of Love” poetry book was published on the same day as the exhibition’s opening. The book is divided into three parts to express three levels of love identified as Mania, Eros and Pragma and presented in different fonts, the statement added.
The exhibition is held in rooms 71 and 73 of Mong-Ha Villas in Avenida do Coronel Mesquita. It opens daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with free admission.
In line with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures, participants must wear a facemask, undergo temperature checks, present a valid “Macau Health Code” and maintain on-site social distancing.
