A local man was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for violating the government’s COVID-19 prevention and control measures, stealing a vehicle, and driving without a licence, Lei Tak Fai, who heads the Public Relations Division of the Public Security Police (PSP), said during the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre’s daily press conference on Saturday.

According to Lei, the suspect, who is in his thirties, was intercepted by the Public Security Police (PSP) at around 2 a.m. on Saturday when he was riding a motorcycle on the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge (commonly known as the “Old Bridge”) towards Taipa, adding that the rider was not wearing a facemask when he was motorcycling across the city.

Lei said that the suspect admitted that he saw the key was in the ignition of the motorcycle so he stole it to joyride around the city. He underlined that motorcycles are not allowed to cross the Old Bridge. Only taxis, public buses, ambulances and other government vehicles are allowed to use the Old Bridge.
