The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement yesterday that its “Stay, Dine and See Macao” local tours and hotel staycation experience has been extended from August 31 to the end of December, aiming to encourage more local residents to enjoy the two activities, while adding impetus to the local tourism sector.

The statement noted that different themed itineraries will be added in conjunction with festivals and events, so as to attract residents to participate in the local tours.

The current 12 itineraries for the programme for September-December are now open for registration, some of which cover leisure, family, stimulating experiences, as well as the arts and culture, the statement said, while more itineraries will be added and announced later.

According to the statement, a limited itinerary will be organised from September 23 to 25 in conjunction with the 10th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo. For a special price of 28 patacas residents can join the tour, which includes a visit to the travel expo, as well as to the Taipa Houses, the Historical Museum of Coloane and Taipa, and Rua do Cunha in Taipa, the statement said, adding that a 100-pataca dining card will be handed to the participants at the start of the tour.

The statement noted that between January 2021 and Monday this week, a total of 128,392 locals signed up for the programme, including 36,235 participants who took part in the tours, while 37,146 hotel packages were sold, involving 92,157 hotel overnight guests.

The statement said that the arrangements for the “Educational Student Tours” in the programme will be announced later.

The statement underlined that in accordance with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 prevention measures, participants must wear a facemask, undergo a temperature check, show their Macau Health Code and scan the respective venue QR code when entering public places and taking transport. The statement also underlined that those holding a yellow or red Macau Health Code are not allowed to join the tours.
