A statement by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) on Sunday said that the number of tourists was increasing gradually, with 17,875 visitor arrivals recorded on Friday and 16,540 on Saturday when the Mid-Autumn Festival took place.
The statement noted that between September 3 and Friday a total of 114,113 visitor arrivals were recorded, with a daily average of 16,302, indicating an increase of 52.5 percent compared to the daily average of 10,690 last month.
‘Stay, Dine and See Macao’ logs 2,802 signups
Meanwhile, the statement also noted that as of Saturday, 2,802 participants had signed up for local tours under the government’s “Stay, Dine and See Macao” programme, while 40,563 residents had taken part in staycations, with 14,881 hotel packages sold.
From January 1 to September 10, 138,701 residents signed up for the programme, of which 36,902 people joined local tours, 101,799 people booked staycations, and 40,720 hotel packages were sold.
According to the statement, during the first two days of the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, i.e., on Saturday and Sunday, about 130 people participated in local tours, which helped boost Macau’s community tourism sector.
