A local driver hit a road sign and then fell asleep in his car, Public Security Police (PSP) Lam Keong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Lam, the male suspect in his thirties surnamed Lo told the police that he is self-employed.
Lam said that early on Friday morning the PSP received a report saying that a driver was sleeping in his car parked on the road in Alameda Doutor Carlos d’Assumpção in Nape. When police arrived at the scene they also found a road sign and a tree support damaged near the car.
Lo was given a breathalyser which showed 2.62 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood, Lam said, adding that Lo told the police that he could not recall what had happened earlier that morning.
Lo has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of drunk-driving and property damage, Lam said.
