Macau’s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced in a statement yesterday that Macau reported 382 new COVID-19 cases related to the community on Monday.
The 382 cases were detected between 00:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Monday.
The 382 cases reported on Monday broke the record of daily new cases of 204 that were detected on Sunday.
Yesterday’s statement pointed out that as of 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Macau had reported a total of 923 COVID-19 cases involving the community since November 28, when Macau’s current COVID-19 situation began.
Yesterday’s statement said that the 382 new COVID-19 carriers or patients detected on Monday comprise 185 females and 197 males, aged between six and 78. The statement said that 280 of them had been classified as asymptomatic cases, while the other 102 had been classified as confirmed cases because of having come down with COVID-19 symptoms.
According to the statement, 13 of the 382 cases were detected in hospitals or quarantine hotels used for COVID-19 medical observation, while the other 369 cases were directly detected in the community.
The 369 cases detected in the community, according to the statement, comprised four close contacts, 163 detected by self-tests with a rapid antigen test (RAT) kit, 177 detected by nucleic acid tests (NATs) carried out in Macau, 10 confirmed by NAT results reported in Zhuhai, and 15 detected in hospital emergency departments.
As of yesterday, Macau’s COVID-19 tally since January 2020 stood at 3,356 cases (including 2,316 asymptomatic cases). The death toll rose by one to seven last night.
