A playground in Reservoir Park, the public park surrounding the peninsula’s reservoir, reopened last week after the completion of its refurbishment, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has announced
The bureau launched a project in April this year to renovate two playgrounds in Reservoir Park, namely Playground A and Playground B. Playground A is located near the Marbela residential estate on Rua dos Pescadores, while Playground B is situated on Estrada do Reservatório, or near the Jai Alai casino-hotel complex.
Playground A reopened on October 1 after its renovation, i.e., the project’s first phase, had been completed. The project’s first phase enlarged the size of Playground A from 90 square metres to 750 square metres.
An IAM statement on Wednesday last week announced that the renovation of Playground B, i.e., the project’s second phase, had also been completed. It reopened to members of the public on Thursday last week.
Last Wednesday’s statement noted that the project’s second phase enlarged the size of Playground B from 200 square metres to 950 square metres.
The statement said that “artificial grass mats and safety mat layers” have been installed across the refurbished Playground B, with the aim of providing a safer environment for children to enjoy the play facilities there.
According to the statement, the refurbished Playground B features various climbing play facilities suitable for children aged between 5 and 12. In addition, the statement, various play facilities suitable for kids aged between 2 and 12 have also been installed there.
The statement also reminded the public that some of the playground’s facilities are “challenging” for kids to play on, urging parents to give safety guidance to their children when they are playing on them.
