The Macau Public Library has published the 32nd issue of “Books and the City” themed “About Parent-Child Reading”, which introduces various parent-child reading promotion activities recently held by the Macau Public Library and related collections, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement on Friday.
The new, trilingual issue, according to the statement, also provides tips for parents on how to create more opportunities to read with children through different activities during their development, ranging from infants and toddlers to teenagers.
The statement noted that this issue’s “Library Handbook” section features a pop-up book workshop titled “Pen and Paper Is More Than One Possibility”, which enables participants to create their own pop-up books; an interview with library volunteer Chan Ka Wai in “Library Portrait”; An “Author’s Say” section featuring Morus To (杜駿偉), the author of a storybook on children’s games titled Mak Mak’s Adventure • Macao; among others.
The statement said that 3,000 copies are available for free at all branch libraries under the bureau, as well as the city’s higher education institutions, Tap Seac Gallery, several bookshops and local cultural and art facilities. The magazine’s articles are published in Chinese, English, and Portuguese.
