The Sports Bureau’s (ID) Sports Development Department Chief Chao Kuok Wai announced yesterday during a press conference at the bureau’s headquarters in Zape that the 2023 Macau Women’s Sports Carnival was slated to start at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 12 at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion, aiming to promote women’s participation in physical exercise and to improve their physical fitness.

Chao said that businesses and associations are encouraged to participate in teams, so as to create a “family-friendly atmosphere”, advocating a healthy lifestyle of mass sports and fitness for all.

The event, which is jointly hosted by the bureau and the Macau Women’s General Association (commonly known as Fu Luen in Cantonese) marks its 20th anniversary this year, according to Chao.

According to an ID statement handed out during the press conference, the event will be carried out in the form of an inter-team sports competition, with eight to 10 women in a team, completing the activities set by the organisers and reaching the finish line in the fastest time.

The statement pointed out that local females who are born between 1963 and 2005 are welcome to sign up for the event at www.sport.gov.mo/zh/macauwomenssportsfestival by noon on March 8.

The statement underlined that no more than five teams can be signed up for each association or business.

Enquiries can be made by calling 2823 6363 (Sports Bureau), or 2835 3748 (Fu Luen).
