The Health Bureau (SSM) says that 368 breastfeeding rooms had been set up on public and private premises across the city as of the end of last year.

An SSM statement on Friday underlined that the local government has been intensively promoting mothers’ breastfeeding.

The statement pointed out that the Health Bureau has been pushing public and private entities alike to set up breastfeeding rooms on their premises with the aim of creating a more breastfeeding-friendly environment in the city.

As of December 31 last year, the statement said, 249 breastfeeding rooms had been set up on premises and facilities of government entities, while 52 had been set up in properties of non-profit organisations whose operations are subsidised by the government, and 67 had been set up on premises of private enterprises, totalling 368 rooms.

The statement underlined that the Health Bureau published its guidelines on the equipment and management of breastfeeding rooms for public and private entities back in 2016 to set up such facilities on their premises.
