A car caught fire on Estrada do Alto de Coloane yesterday, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) said in a statement yesterday.
After an inspection, the bureau suspected that the fire was caused by a mechanical fault in the car, the statement said.
According to the statement, the car’s owner, who was driving along Estrada do Alto de Coloane, noticed that there was smoke coming from his car and told his passengers to exit the vehicle immediately after which the vehicle erupted into flames.
Firemen rushed to the scene to control the fire after receiving the report at around 4 p.m., according to the statement.
The bureau hosed down the car to put out the fire. No one was injured in the incident, and no other vehicles were involved, the statement said.
The car’s owner said that he had hired a towing company to remove the car.
