The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) said in a statement yesterday that it has extended its online overseas assistance service to promptly respond to Macau residents who lose their travel documents while overseas.
The extension of the online assistance service is done with the support of the Foreign Ministry in Beijing and its Commissioner’s Office in Macau.
The statement noted that the service will be implemented at over 200 Chinese embassies or consulates starting today. Macau residents aged 18 or above who lose their travel documents while abroad can use the “Overseas Assistance - Lost Travel Documents in Journey” service through the “Macao One Account” app, the statement said, with details available on www.dsi.gov.mo/ooas_e.jsp
Applicants can also request assistance on behalf of accompanying family members such as their spouse and parents. Those in need of assistance are required to undergo facial recognition, the statement added, and upon entering the required information into the system. Applicants will be instantly issued an application number valid for 24 hours and a verification code via SMS.
One can then proceed to the chosen Chinese embassy or consulate to apply for a travel document by presenting the valid application number and verification code, according to the statement, and can have one’s identity confirmed without further information from DSI. The issuance of one-time travel document to persons in need will be expedited for them to return to Macau.
Macau residents needing assistance while overseas can call the 24-hour emergency hotline, with details on www.dsi.gov.mo/hotline_e.html
Meanwhile, one can call 2837 0777 or 2837 0888 or email info@dsi.gov.mo for enquiries.
