A woman from the mainland has been arrested for hocking a fake Rolex watch in a local pawn shop, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lou Chan Fai said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The 26-year-old suspect surnamed Yang told the police she’s a saleswoman.
According to Lou, last August Yang went to a pawnshop in Nape and pawned a purported Rolex watch for HK$60,000. The staff later re-inspected the watch and discovered that it was a fake, leading them to report the case to the police.
Lou noted that experts later confirmed that the watch is a counterfeit product.
Yang was arrested on Friday when she re-entered Macau through the Barrier Gate checkpoint. Yang claimed that “someone” gave her the watch for pawning and that she did not know it was a fake.
Yang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a fraud charge, Lou said.
