The 37th issue of the free trilingual “Books and the City” magazine is now available, with the latest edition themed on the “Power of Pleasure Reading in the Community”, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement yesterday.

The magazine is published by the Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau.

According to the statement, 3,000 copies of the free magazine are available at public libraries, higher education institutions, various bookshops and cultural and art facilities, as well as online.

The latest issue’s theme delves into the various projects aimed at facilitating a citywide reading culture, the statement said. Readers can find introductions to the “Worker Bookhouse”, which is especially designed for employees, the “Literary Salon” for regular literary gatherings on a rooftop, and “The MODSA Book Crossing Box Project”, which is organised by overseas design students and found in different leisure spaces, the statement added.

Moreover, the “Library Handbook” reviews this year’s “Macao Library Week”, while the “Author’s Say” section introduces an illustrated book entitled “Jogos e brincadeiras de Macau” (“games and pranks in Macau”) by J.J Monteiro.

New books and magazines are featured in the “New Launch” section, while readers can also find 10 brief book reviews in the issue, the statement said.

More details and the magazine’s online version are on www.library.gov.mo
