A Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said yesterday that a local man was caught on Wednesday for allegedly physically abusing and raping his wife, adding that the man also self-harmed and swore at police officers who arrested and questioned him.
According to the spokesperson, the suspect, surnamed Kuong, is a 44-year-old car wash owner while his wife works in a casino.
The spokesperson said Kuong married his wife in the mainland in 2001. Kuong’s wife and their 14-year-old son started living with him in Macau in 2013.
In June, Kuong abused his wife after she had refused to lend him money for his business. The spokesperson said Kuong’s wife had called the police at that time, adding that the police had then referred the case to Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) social workers.
