The AFA Autumn Salon 2024 will kick off at the Shoppes at Parisian in Cotai on Saturday, featuring 113 artists presenting over 200 artworks in a variety of mediums, while the winners of the annually presented “Orient Foundation Art Award” will also be awarded, according to a recent Art For All Society (AFA) statement.
The opening ceremony is slated for 6:30 p.m.
The upcoming exhibition is organised by AFA in conjunction with the Orient Foundation (FO), and sponsored by the Macao Cultural Development Fund, while integrated resort operator Sands China is the venue sponsor.
The statement noted that the upcoming event marks AFA Autumn Salon’s 15th year with more than double the exhibits than in the previous edition. The statement added that the artworks to be showcased were chosen from an open call for entries that ran until October 31 by a jury comprised of AFA and Orient Foundation representatives, as well as a Sands China representative.
The selected artworks, which include those created through traditional media and digital forms were created by artists who live, work and study in Macau, the statement noted, and reflects “the vibrancy of current local artistic creation”. Renowned artists from Macau are also featured in the “Invited Artists List”, the statement pointed out.
Moreover, the statement elaborated that the annually presented “Orient Foundation Art Award” amounts to 50,000 patacas and funds a one-month residency in Portugal to “create, exchange ideas or receive training at private or public art institutions”.
The exhibition at The Parisian Macao will be on through March 25 next year.
