The annual Christmas Charity Bazaar - “Island’s Gift of Giving” took place yesterday on the Grand Coloane Resort’s Outdoor Lawn, with this year’s event having attracted around 30 vendors and over 500 attendees, according to a statement from the resort last night.

The vendors of the one-day event, hosted by the resort in partnership with the International Ladies’ Club of Macau (ILCM), also included those invited from other cities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), the statement said, while activities including games, workshops and performances, were held throughout the day. The proceeds, meanwhile, directly went to the ILCM Chairty Fund, benefiting around 20 charities across Macau, according to the statement.

The statement did not reveal the amount of the proceeds.

The statement quoted Grand Coloane Resort General Manager Christian Buggelsheim as saying: “Today isn’t just about soaking up the beauty of this special place – it’s about coming together for a bigger purpose: spreading goodwill and supporting those in need. Back in 2011, we dreamt up the idea of a charity bazaar that would not only kick off the festive season in style, but also give back to our community. And here we are today, carrying on this heartfelt tradition with another exciting year of generosity, togetherness, and festive cheer.”

ILCM President Jolene Zhao do Amaral was quoted as saying: “The real gift of giving isn’t about the things we give, but the happiness it brings to both the giver and the receiver. When we share what we have, we spread kindness that can make a difference to people’s lives.”
