Two local men have separately been arrested for drunk driving, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said at a press conference yesterday.

In the first case, the suspect surnamed Nim is in his thirties who told the police that he’s jobless.

In the wee hours of Sunday, the police received a report from a security guard of a carpark in the Iao Hon district that Nim was sleeping in his car with the engine running.

A breathalyser test showed that his alcohol concentration was 2.93 grams of alcohol per litre of blood.

Under questioning, Nim confessed to drinking on Saturday night but claimed that he had been driven to the carpark by “someone else.” However, CCTV footage from the carpark showed that he had driven into the carpark himself.

In the second instance, the suspect surnamed Lei, who is in his forties, works as a casino PR. He was intercepted at a roadblock where it emerged that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

The two suspects have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing drunk-driving charges, according to Cheong.
