The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a Nepali in his thirties on Sunday for allegedly sexually harassing a local woman by patting her buttocks in the street, PSP spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said at a regular press conference yesterday.

The local victim reported the case to the police on Saturday, saying that earlier that day she had been patted on the buttocks from behind when she was walking along Avenida de Horta e Costa (高士德大馬路).

According to Cheong, the Public Security Police made use of their citywide CCTV surveillance system and identified the suspect surnamed Pokharel and arrested him.

Under questioning, Pokharel, who works as a security guard, denied committing the offence. However, CCTV footage shows Pokharel touching the victim’s buttocks.

Cheong noted that the Public Security Police have transferred Pokharel to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further investigation, where he faces a sexual harassment charge.
