Sessions in Cantonese on promoting cat and dog adoptions are slated to be held once a month at the Mong Ha Eco-Centre until June, with the first to be held on January 26, according to a Friday statement from the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), which co-organises the events with the Everyone Stray Dogs Macau Volunteer Group.

The Macau Municipal Kennel’s adoption services, etiquette for animal interaction, veterinary care and relevant laws and regulations are among the subjects to be introduced during the free-of-charge talks, which is titled “Sharing Talks on Adoption of Dogs and Cats”, along with adoption tips and how to be a responsible owner.

The other upcoming dates are February 22, March 29, April 26, May 24 and June 21, all taking place from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Those intending to adopt animals will also be taken by veterinary surgeons to visit the municipal kennel after the talks, the statement added.

Registration can be done via the Macao One Account, with those under 18 required to be accompanied by a guardian.

Meanwhile, the statement said that one can follow the “Pet Preparatory Class” Facebook and Instagram pages, which promote the “Trap, Neuter and Adopt” (TNA) model and find long-term care for stray animals, while photos and videos of animals up for adoption are posted daily on dedicated webpages, along with common adoption terms and knowledge about veterinary care of cats and dogs.
