A local man has been arrested for cutting open the seat of a motorbike, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The 61-year-old suspect surnamed Lei told the police he is a construction worker.
In December, the motorcycle owner reported that the seat of his bike had been damaged by someone, estimating the repair cost at 800 patacas. Police identified the suspect as Lei with the aid of CCTV footage. They summoned Lei to a police station on Monday.
Under questioning, Lei confessed to the crime, claiming he believed that the victim had tampered with his motorcycle, prompting his supposedly retaliatory action.
Lei, who faces property damage charges, has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP).
