The 44th Macao Green Week will be held from March 15 to 23 at various locations around the city, according to a statement by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), with this year’s theme, “Passing on the love of nature to build a beautiful city together,” aiming to promote environmental awareness and community involvement in greening efforts.

The statement noted that the festivities will kick off with a carnival on March 15 and 16 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Avenida da Praia in Taipa, with its opening ceremony scheduled for 3 p.m. Visitors can explore themed booths that provide information on tree species used in hillside restoration, the conservation of ancient trees, ornamental plants in local parks, and more. Moreover, interactive game booths, handicraft workshops, and guided eco-tours will be available to engage participants and spread messages of conservation and ecological responsibility, according to the statement.

During the Green Week, the statement said, residents will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of guided eco-tours and hands-on activities designed to showcase Macau’s ecological resources and greening initiatives. A highlight will be the chance for the public to care for tree saplings planted in previous years, allowing them to witness the growth and importance of these natural resources.

The statement added that six “Green City – Plant Offering” activities will be organised across various districts, inviting members of the public to take greenery into their homes. To encourage participation, the fees for the Guia Hill cable car and the Hac Sá Off-Roading Track for children’s pedal go-karts will be waived during the event.

The week will culminate in the “Walking and Tree Conservation Activity” on March 23 at Seac Pai Van Park, where associations and community members can also look after the previously planted saplings.
