The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has announced in a recent statement that applications are open for catering businesses and travel agencies for this year’s Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme (QTSAS) until March 31.
The statement noted that this year’s assessment mechanism has been optimised, while the quota limit for participants in both sectors has been cancelled.
MGTO had recently held a presentation seminar to call on applications, introduce the optimised programme and new awards, during which MGTO Acting Director Cheng Wai Tong said that tourism service quality is the key to attaining sustainable tourism development in Macau, while new supportive measures have been launched.
The statement said that among the prizes featured for both sectors are the “Quality Tourism Services Merchant Award” and “Quality Tourism Services Gold Award”, each presented with a cash prize of 10,000 patacas. The statement added that Gold Award winners for three consecutive years will garner the “Quality Tourism Services Excellence Award” and a 20,000 pataca cash prize.
This year’s scheme will also present five “Special Theme Awards” categories for the catering sector, which are the Sustainable Dining Award, Community Care Services Award, Local Feature Award, Operational Innovation Award, along with the newly launched Integrity Business Award, according to the statement, and each will be presented with a 5,000 pataca cash prize.
Meanwhile, the “Special Theme Awards” for travel agencies comprise the Integrity Business Awards, Courtesy Merchant Award and Quality Training Award.
Accredited merchants, the statement added, will “be given priority and recommendation to join MGTO’s promotions and activities”, along with priority admission to MGTO-organised training programmes
