The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a local man on Saturday for drunk driving, with his blood alcohol concentration standing at 1.61 grams per litre, PSP spokesman Lei Chan Hong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect, surnamed Leong, is in his thirties and works as a shuttle bus driver.
According to Lei, the Public Security Police (PSP) received a report on Saturday afternoon about a shuttle bus that hit the exterior wall of the employee entrance to a construction company on Avenida da Ponte Macau (澳門橋大馬路) in Zona A (新城A區). There were 13 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. The front windscreen of the shuttle bus was shattered, and the door was damaged.
Lei noted that the shuttle bus driver, Leong, was reeking of alcohol, and a breathalyser test showed that his blood alcohol concentration stood at 1.61 grams per litre, confirming his drunk-driving offence. Leong sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital afterwards.
Under questioning, Leong admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages at a bar in Zape before driving. He started work at 11 a.m., and after four hours of driving, he lost control while turning and crashed into the wall of the construction company.
Leong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a charge of drunk driving.
