The first “Debut@Macao – Project Launch x Innovation Matching Session” was held yesterday at the “2025 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2025MIECF), on the sidelines of which Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) President Vincent U U Sang told reporters that the debut economy* is one of the key components of this year’s fair, adding he believes that with multiple advantages, Macau can become a platform for the overseas launch of mainland products, helping mainland enterprises connect with Portuguese-speaking countries, the EU and Southeast Asian businesses.

According to U, during the three-day exhibition, about 21 enterprises are scheduled to debut their products, comprising eight from Macau, two from Hengqin, and 11 from the mainland and Hong Kong, with their products featuring a range of innovations, including liquid-cooled super-stamping technology**, electric motorcycles with automatic parking capacity, and cultural and creative products. He said: “Among them, there are certainly products related to Macau, such as unmanned boats that connect with tourism and new industry developments, which are suitable for use in recreational and leisure facilities”.

The products debut yesterday also included biodegradable materials. U said: “Macau has tens of thousands of hotel guestrooms, and the demand for consumables is increasing. Globally, hotel supplies are increasingly required to meet environmental and biodegradable standards. Therefore, we, in conjunction with the Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin, arranged for a company from Hengqin to make its product debut in Macau this time as part of the launch”.

In recent years, events related to exhibitions and conventions have garnered increasing attention, with international conferences and exhibitions placing greater emphasis on new product launches. U pointed out the advantages of Macau in the debut economy, including its ability to provide a favourable environment for exhibitors to reach their target customers. “Benefiting from its connection with the motherland and its global outlook, Macau is more attractive compared to mainland Chinese cities. Additionally, Macau can assist mainland enterprises in targeting potential customers from markets that may not have easy access to mainland launches, such as those from Portuguese-speaking countries, the EU and Southeast Asia,” he added.

According to U, with the sense of crisis brought about by the concept of “go overseas or go to the wall” among mainland enterprises, the enthusiasm of enterprises to “go overseas” has further increased. An increasing number of mainland enterprises have expressed interest in Portuguese-speaking countries to IPIM, he added, enquiring about relevant businesses in these regions and coming to Macau to participate in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) activities.
