Italian tenor and record-breaking artiste Andrea Bocelli brought his vocal prowess to Macau on Saturday night for a one-night concert at the 16,000-seat Galaxy Arena in Cotai.

Marking his return since performing in the city in 2016, the “Galaxy Macau Presents: Andrea Bocelli Live in Concert” saw 66-year-old Bocelli, who was dubbed by Canadian singer Céline Dion as the “Voice of God”, deliver a stellar performance at the packed arena.

Split into two parts, the show featured guests such as award-winning Ethiopia-born Italian Soprano Mariam Battistelli and conductor Carlo Bernini. Bocelli’s son Matteo Bocelli also joined him on Saturday night as a special guest.

The show also featured the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra and the Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theatre Chorus.

Bocelli, who is visually impaired, has sold over 90 million records and achieved international success in his over 30-year career. He boasts over 16 billion streams and has also collaborated with artistes such as Céline Dion, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Lopez,  and Chirstina Aguilera.

He has done shows at a number of landmarks and has also performed for four US presidents, three popes, the British royal family and numerous prime ministers, according to the programme information at the venue, which added that Bocelli has garnered six Grammy Award nominations and six Latin Grammy Award nominations.

Following the Macau leg of Bocelli’s tour, his website notes that he will be performing in Sydney and Taipei on Thursday and Friday respectively.
