Macau yesterday suffered the lowest temperature for March 31 on record since official meteorological data began to be available, according to a report by public broadcaster TDM yesterday.
According to its website, the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG), the city’s observatory, recorded 10.4 degrees Celsius at its observatory station on Big Taipa Hill at 7 a.m. yesterday.
According to the report, António Viseu, president of the Macau Meteorological Association, told TDM’s Rádio Macau that according to its database obtained from the observatory, yesterday was the coldest March 31 on record in Macau.
The report quoted the association as saying that yesterday’s low temperatures were mainly caused by strong winds and light rain.
According to the report, the association also said that due to the unusual temperatures at this time of the year, it is possible that this year’s typhoon season will begin earlier than normal.
