The police arrested a Nepalese security guard on Tuesday for placing a hidden camera on the floor of a female staff toilet cubicle to film other staff members in a casino-hotel resort in Cotai, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The 30-year-old suspect is a non-resident worker (NRW) from Nepal working as a security guard for the resort in Cotai.
According to the spokesperson, the Nepali had wrapped the camera in a tissue and put it on the floor in the cubicle in the female staff toilet in the resort early this month, before a cleaner found it on Tuesday morning.
After the resort reported the case to the police, PSP officers identified the suspect and arrested him later that day in the resort while he was on duty.
The spokesperson said that under questioning by the police, the Nepali admitted to filming other staff using the toilet with the camera since early this month.
According to the spokesperson, the police seized two memory cards from him and from his home in Areia Preta district containing about 180 furtively taken video clips and 20 photos in total.
The suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further questioning.
