There is still nearly a month left to visit the “New Perspectives: Modern and Contemporary Works from the Macao Museum of Art” exhibition, with the works continuing to be on display through May 25.
Spanning two floors, those visiting the free-admission exhibition will find works for the large-scale exhibition immediately upon entering, with more to see as they make their way up. From the vibrant and colourful to the muted and monochrome, 100 works ranging from sculptures, photography, various forms of paintings, mixed media, print-making, and works using waste and neon lights, among many others, are on display.
The exhibition has been on since December.
It is split into three sections: “Scenery and Images”, “Ink Expressions and Concepts” and “Objects, Colours, and New Perspectives”. The artworks were created across different periods and, according to a recent statement by the museum, features those created by local artists and their counterparts from Portugal, as well as Russian and Australian artists who lived in Macau.
“The works on display demonstrate the achievements and diversity of the museum’s collection since its establishment in 1999, exemplifying Macau’s unique identity as a crossroads between Eastern and Western cultures, as well as the city’s rich cultural values and diverse forms of artistic expression”, the statement points out.
The exhibition aims to give those visiting a raft of “new visual experiences and encourage deeper contemplation on Macau’s cultural memories”, according to the statement.
Exhibitiongoers keen to admire the works can visit the museum from Tuesday to Sunday, including public holidays, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the last entry on 6:30 p.m. It is closed on Mondays. More information can be found on
