This year’s swimming season will begin with the usual safeguards tomorrow and end on October 31, the Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, the bureau deploys lifeguards and paramedics to Hac Sa (“Black Sand”) and Cheoc Van (“Bamboo Bay”) during the swimming season. The duty hours of lifeguards and paramedics will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday as well as public holidays, while buoys have been set up at both beaches to ensure the safety of swimmers.

The bureau reminded beachgoers and swimmers to pay attention to the latest notices, flags on site and their personal physical condition before swimming in the sea, avoid touching marine life, and not to enter the sea if feeling unwell or having any injury. Meanwhile, if there is any emergency, the swimmers and other beachgoers can contact the lifeguards and paramedics on duty, the statement pointed out.

The statement stressed that lighting fires, camping and riding bicycles or driving motor vehicles on the beach are strictly prohibited to avoid affecting other beachgoers.

The bureau estimates that the flow of beachgoers will increase during the Labour Day public holiday, and urged the public to check real-time images, the flagging at the two beaches and flow of people there through the official website https://www.marine.gov.mo/news_detail.aspx?a_id=1745920722 and the bureau’s mobile app “Macau Marine” before heading to the beach, in order to facilitate potential beachgoers’ travel plans.
