The Macau Grand Prix (MGP) Museum, managed by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), is providing free admission to the public on May 18, in celebration of International Museum Day.

International Museum Day is annually celebrated on May 18 or thereabouts.

According to an MGTO statement yesterday, three sessions of an educational activity will be available on May 18, with online signups starting today.

The theme for International Museum Day 2025 is “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities.” The statement noted that the theme aims to “inspire people to rethink the role of museums as essential connectors, innovators, and stewards of cultural identity”.

On the day of the event, the museum will also host the “Race & Print Academy” at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. The workshop will focus on the Triumph TR2, the sports car driven by the winner of the first Macau Grand Prix. According to the statement, participants will learn about the history and technology of the Macau Grand Prix and enjoy a hands-on craft activity. Each session will last about an hour and a half and is open for free registration to children aged 6 to 12, along with their parents.

Interested individuals can sign up on the official website from 10 a.m. today until 6 p.m. on May 7. The statement said that each session will accommodate 15 pairs of children and parents. As slots are limited, a lucky draw will be held, with the results to be announced on the museum’s website on May 13, and winners will be notified via email.
