The trilingual (Chinese, Portuguese and English) 39th issue of Books and the City magazine is now available, this time taking on the theme of “Reading and Sport”.
Published by the Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and again having 3,000 copies available for free, this edition, according to the magazine, features interviews with badminton coach Lam Hou Him, long-distance running enthusiast Kam Wai Tong, Wing Chun master Lei Kin Hou and sports research scholar Ning Ziheng to explore the connection between reading and exercise, among others.
This edition’s “Library Handbook” provides information on the “Macao Legal Deposit Regime” in the form of a game, according to the magazine and yesterday’s statement from the bureau.
The statement said that “Reading Landscape” talks about the parent-child reading experience from the “Toddler Reading Reward Programme” through an interview with two pairs of parents and their children, while the “Author’s Say” section focuses on the local award-winning cognitive psychology picture book “The Butterfly That Wasn’t Painted Gold” and its creation process.
The award was presented at Boao Forum for Asia 2018.
The “New Launch” section again features new books and magazines, along with 10 book reviews, according to the IC statement.
One can pick up copies at public libraries, higher education institutions and Tap Seac Gallery, along with several bookshops and local cultural and art facilities.
