A launch ceremony for 14 new standard dragon boats bought by integrated resort operator SJM for a local group was held at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre yesterday.

The event, which was held in two segments, included separate blessing ceremonies for the safety of the new dragon boats and for the members of SJM Dragon Boat Team.

SJM Resorts Managing Director Daisy Ho Chiu Fung stressed in a speech that SJM purchased 14 new dragon boats for the China Macau Dragon Boat Association (CMDB) earlier this year, to give each dragon-boat team a better experience in the upcoming Macau International Dragon Boat Races.

The 2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races” are set to take place at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre on May 24-25 and May 31, with the integrated resort operator having eight teams competing in the event. However, no information on the international teams to be competing had been released as of yesterday.

This year’s Macau Standard Dragon Boat Races also include for the first time the introduction of a mixed (male-female) category, in which 18 teams will compete.
