The Fire Services Bureau (CB) said in a statement yesterday that it received a report around 9 a.m. about a workplace accident at the Four Seasons Hotel in Cotai.

According to the statement, a local 65-year-old man was rushed to the Conde S. Januário Hospital after sustaining suspected fractures of his forearm and left cheek, as well as a laceration on the corner of his left eye while working on a shop renovation project on the property.

In a separate statement, the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) expressed deep concern over the incident and extended its sympathies to the injured worker.

According to preliminary investigations, the worker was struck in the face by a collapsing metal frame while working on the ground, resulting in injuries that required hospitalisation. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The Labour Affairs Bureau said it would assist the injured worker in handling compensation claims related to the workplace accident and provide appropriate support.
