Construction forum attracts ‘record-breaking’ 70 vice-ministers and above

The 16th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum and Exhibition (IIICF) will be held from tomorrow to Thursday, one of the highlights of which is that about 70 leaders at the level of vice-minister and above are slated to participate, which would set a new record, according to press conference by the co-organisers yesterday.

The three-day forum, co-organised by the Macau Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA), will be held at Hall D of The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo.

IPIM President Vincent U U Sang said in a speech at the press conference held at Hall D that the forum, themed “Enhanced Connectivity for Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”, that more than 3,500 professionals from over 70 countries and regions, including Angola, Cabo Verde, Mozambique and other Portuguese- speaking countries, comprising nearly 70 officials at the rank of vice-minister and above, will set an all-time record.

Meanwhile, with the participation rate the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)* countries increasing by 16 percent year-on-year, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam will attend the forum for the first time.

U noted that this time 90 percent of the exhibition booths are fully custom-built, the highest proportion at any MICE event in Macau so far. U also said he expected the forum to generate revenue of 20 million patacas for the exhibition booth construction industry.

U added that the “11th Infrastructure Cooperation Forum and High-Quality Development of Infrastructure Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” will be held during the forum.

China International Contractors Association Chairman Fang Qiuchen noted in his speech that 30 innovative technologies and product projects will be launched tomorrow afternoon, including eight global debuts, which are the most ground-breaking, exemplary, and leading in the industry, covering digital intelligence technologies, smart construction, new materials and low-carbon green solutions, aiming to strengthen the professional effectiveness of the forum.

Fang added that more than 200 activities will be held during the event, including exhibition tours, corporate roadshows, project promotions, and business matching sessions which will be arranged to promote project cooperation and yield more tangible results.
