There are still six days left to explore the works by local Portuguese artist Lúcia Lemos displayed during her latest solo exhibition “Metamorphosis” at the Rui Cunha Foundation (FRC) gallery on Avenida da Praia Grande.

On until Saturday, the exhibition, which serves as a retrospective of Lemos’s artistic career, kicked off last week at the FRC gallery and is among the activities held in celebration of “June, the Month of Portugal”.

Portugal’s National Day took place on Tuesday.

There are 44 pieces on display for the local Portuguese veteran artist’s latest exhibition, showcasing works created over the years. Gallerygoers will find art created using fine printmaking, black-and-white photography, ceramics, installations, and paintings.

According to a statement provided by the gallery last week, Lemos uses organic materials for her works to “give substance to the ideas and meanings of her art, in different languages and forms that she has been experimenting with and learning throughout her life”. The statement added that she now has more freedom and time to explore those different art forms.

Having lived in Macau for over four decades, Lemos is the founder and former coordinator of Creative Macau – Centre for Creative Industries, a post that she has recently retired from. She also launched the annual Macau International Short Film Festival in 2010. She was the festival director until 2023.

Lemos has joined over 50 group exhibitions, while she has also held a number of solo exhibitions in Macau and elsewhere.

One can visit the gallery from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.
