About 4,900 local residents who wish to be exempted from the 183-day minimum stay requirement to benefit from the government’s 2025 wealth-sharing programme submitted their applications to the Social Security Fund (FSS) yesterday, the first day of the application period.

The Government Information Bureau (GCS) announced the data in a statement yesterday evening.

According to the statement, as of 6 p.m. yesterday, about 3,720 residents had submitted their applications via the Macao One Account e-government app, while about 1,180 residents had submitted their applications in the five government service centres that are receiving applications for the exemptions.

Of the five service centres, according to the statement, the Government Services Centre in Areia Preta district received the highest number of applications yesterday.

The statement also noted that the application period is running until December 31, 2028, urging residents not to rush to submit their applications at any of the five service centres.

In addition to the Government Services Centre in Areia Preta, the other four service centres receiving applications comprise the Integrated Services Centre in the China Plaza office building in Nam Van district, the Central District Public Services Centre on Rotunda de Carlos da Maia, the Government Services Centre in Taipa, and the Islands District Public Services Centre in Coloane’s Seac Pai Van public housing neighbourhood.

The five service centres are open from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The government said last week that the Social Security Fund (FSS) can generally complete the assessment of an application for exemption from the 183-day minimum stay requirement within 10 working days.
