The “MGM Artistic Swimming Elite Extravaganza & Macao Open Competition 2025” came to a close yesterday at the Aquatic Centre of the Olympic Sports Centre in Taipa, where dozens of spectators gathered to watch winners receive awards as well as performances by national teams.
The free-admission event this year marked its third consecutive year and took place from Friday to yesterday at the centre.
Featuring six main events, the open competition saw 18 youth teams competing, with young athletes from Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shandong, Shenzhen, Sichuan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Macau, and the United States, according to a previous statement by the Swimming Association of Macao-China. This year’s open competition saw Macau win one gold, three silvers, and one bronze.
Meanwhile, following the awards ceremony, graceful and elaborate water ballet performances by China’s National Artistic Swimming Team, which won gold at both the team and duet events at the Paris Olympic Games last year, the Beijing Artistic Swimming Team, and the Guangdong Derun Artistic Swimming Team, gathering applause and many cheers from spectators.
Young athletes were also able to learn from performers with a special training class again held this year after the competitions and performances.
The MGM Artistic Swimming Elite Extravaganza & Macao Open Competition 2025 was co-presented by the integrated resort operator in partnership with the local swimming association. Yesterday’s event was attended by guests including representatives from the local government and MGM.
