The public Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM) and Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited (HKIRC)*, co-hosted yesterday a signing ceremony for their “Memorandum of Cooperation in Establishment of ‘Cyber Security Training Platform’”, vowing to build a secure, stable, and trustworthy cyber environment.
The one-day event was held at the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) in Nam Van yesterday.
CPTTM President Victoria Alexa Kuan Chan noted in a speech during the ceremony that cybersecurity is an enduring endeavour requiring collective vigilance as every individual serves as a frontline defender.
Kuan also said that “only through heightened public awareness can we effectively mitigate potential threats. Leveraging this training platform as a catalyst, CPTTM aims to collaboratively forge a secure digital environment resilient to cyber fraud, integrating cybersecurity consciousness into daily practices”, she said.
HKIRC Chairman Simon Chan Sai Ming said in his speech that in today’s digital era, cybersecurity has become a global priority and the cornerstone of the Greater Bay Area’s digital economy development. “As key components of the Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong and Macau possess unique advantages and close economic, cultural, and technological ties,” Chan said.
The Greater Bay Area (GBA) comprises nine cities in Guangdong Province as well as China’s special administrative regions (SARs) of Hong Kong and Macau. Macau SAR Chief Executive’s current fact-finding tour of six GBA cities in Guangdong ends today.
Chan pointed out that corporate employees serve as the first line of defence in cybersecurity. “Through resource sharing, technical exchanges, and talent training collaborations, we aim to enhance Macau enterprises’ cyber defence capabilities and strengthen regional cybersecurity resilience,” he said.
CPTTM manager Lei Hou Neng told reporters on the sidelines of the ceremony that the platform’s training website https://cpttm.cyberhub.hk is specifically designed for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), offering 13 targeted modules such as covering finance, accounting and other sectors.
Lei also stressed that the website is accessible without login requirements. However, he pointed out that upon completion of the website’s cyber security training course, users may log in to take certification tests and obtain accredited credentials.
