The 2025 Sands Shopping Carnival was held from July 17 to 19, concluding with nearly 110,000 visits throughout its three-day run at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo.

Held for the sixth consecutive year, this edition of the carnival ended one day early from its usual four-day run due to Typhoon “Wipha”, though the number of visits was close to last year’s four-day event, receiving an “overwhelming response” from the public, according to a Tuesday statement by Sands China.

This brings the total visitation to over 640,000 since its debut in 2020.

Macau’s largest sales fair this year continued to provide a free business platform for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Sands retailers, with over 580 booths across eight exhibition zones, which included the new addition of a coffee zone.

In addition to various products, including over 5,000 items for one pataca each day and deals reaching up to 90 percent off for selected products from international brands, the event also featured an international-cuisine food court area, an open-mic busking space outside the coffee zone, along with various games and activities.

Moreover, one of the event’s highlights, the “ICBC ePay Presents: Greater Bay Area Karaoke King Singing Competition”, drew over 100 contestants from the Greater Bay Area (GBA), the statement said.

The integrated resort operator also invited several local community organisations to join the event. The statement added that the number of participating community organisations has grown from three to 19 in six years.

The statement quoted Sands China Executive Vice Chairman Wilfred Wong Ying-wai as saying that the integrated resort operator was grateful for all the support they had received for the carnival.

“We are encouraged to see that the carnival was well received by local residents and tourists, reaching nearly 110,000 visits during the three-day run. This remarkable result demonstrates the effectiveness of the unique model of housing local SMEs and Sands retailers under one roof”, according to Wong.

Wong added: “Looking ahead, in line with the cross-sector integration of ‘tourism +,’ we will continue infusing new elements into the carnival, injecting robust momentum to the sustainable and high-quality development of Macau tourism industry.”
