The 33rd Macao International Fireworks Display Contest will light up the first two nights of the National Day Golden Week holiday, according to a statement from the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) on Friday.

The statement said that the pyrotechnic shows by the Chinese and Portuguese teams are scheduled for the evening of October 1, National Day. Furthermore, displays by the Philippine and Japanese teams that were previously postponed due to adverse weather have been rescheduled to Thursday, October 2. This change means spectators can enjoy four firework displays over two consecutive nights.

Each evening will feature two shows, starting at 9 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. respectively. The statement noted that each display will last for about 18 minutes. Spectators are invited to watch the displays from various vantage points around the city.

A parallel event, the Fireworks Carnival, will be held on the waterfront next to the Macau Science Centre (MSC) from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on October 1 and 2.

The statement also said that contingency plans are in place for potential adverse weather. MGTO said that it was monitoring conditions closely and would make timely announcements regarding any further adjustments to the event schedule as needed.
