Lisboeta Macau hosted the “H853 Party @ Coffee Bay” at the weekend in conjunction with the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), offering visitors a cultural-tourism experience that blended coffee, music, art, and Macanese-Portuguese flair to celebrate National Day and the Chinese mainland’s Golden Week holiday which ends on Wednesday.
Held at the integrated resort’s H853 Fun Factory in Cotai, the event brought together more than 20 coffee brands, alongside Cantopop DJs, family-friendly activities, a Macanese-Portuguese cultural market, the “Noite Lisboeta night bazaar”, and an IP art exhibition.*
Customarily, the term “Macanese” denotes Macau’s residents of mixed Portuguese and Asian descent, and their diaspora.
According to a recent statement from Lisboeta Macau, the two-day event aimed to highlight the city’s creative energy and support Macau’s cultural-tourism integration.
Christine Hong Barbosa (項成), vice president of Marketing and Retail Development of Lisboeta, told the Post that the event was an extension of the resort’s efforts to cultivate a youthful and community-driven atmosphere. She added that the idea for the event emerged from the success of Lisboeta’s coffee zone.
“Over the four years, we were very successful in terms of creating this Coffee Bay zone. We have over eight brands of coffee, and all of them are local, made in Macau,” she said, adding that “we [Lisboeta] wanted to celebrate this, and at the same time, the government is pushing the whole theme of making Macau coffee to connect with Portuguese-speaking countries.”
Barbosa emphasised that the event aimed to capture the festive spirit of the Golden Week while aiming to strengthen Lisboeta’s connection to local culture. “We wanted to host the coffee party here,” she said, adding that “the party extended across the whole property, from inside the mall and outside with our night market. From day to night, we wanted people to come and spend their Golden Week here.”
She also highlighted the significance of MGTO’s involvement, noting that the partnership reflected growing synergy between the office and the resort. “MGTO seems really interested and is paying attention to what we’ve been doing,” Barbosa said, adding: “We’re very happy and hopeful that in the future we can work together more to promote Macau and also our Lisboeta property.”
The statement said that with its fusion of cultural markets, music, and coffee craftsmanship, the “H853 Party @ Coffee Bay” aimed to showcase a fresh and creative side of Macau’s tourism scene.
Supported by MGTO, the event also aimed to reaffirm Lisboeta Macau’s role as a hub for youthful energy and cultural innovation, drawing both locals and visitors to celebrate the city’s festive spirit under the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
According to the resort’s website, Lisboeta Macau H853 Fun Factory is a one-stop “retail-tainment” space featuring sports, cultural and art activities, as well as fashion and gourmet outlets. “H” denotes “home”, while “853” is Macau’s international phone code. The venue accepts visitors accompanied by their pets.
