
In conjunction with The NBA China Games 2025, the “NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week” delivered five days of outreach events Oct. 8-12, bringing together the local community. More than 2,200 volunteers and community members participated, including the Sands Cares Ambassadors.
The initiative fostered compassion and interaction through inclusive and engaging activities, featuring NBA Legends such as Mitch Richmond, Tim Hardaway, Yao Ming, Shawn Marion, and Deron Williams, alongside current players from the Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn Nets.
Oct. 8 – Youth basketball exchange featuring Mitch Richmond and NBA coaches for 200 Lou Hau High School students and 12 coaches and students from rural Guizhou and Inner Mongolia from NBA Cares’ “Her Time to Play” initiative.
Oct. 9 – Official tip-off event, featuring a basketball clinic led by Suns and Nets players for local schools and “Her Time to Play” coaches and students, plus the packing of goodie bags and health kits to distribute in the community.
Oct. 10 – Distributing boxed lunches and health kits with Tim Hardaway to 200 local residents at Fuhong Society of Macau’s Pou Choi Centre.
Oct. 11 – Basketball carnival for 120 family members of local social service organisations, featuring interactive games and exciting performances. Shawn Marion and Sands Global Ambassador David Beckham came to support the event.
Oct. 12 – “Her Time to Play” basketball clinic at the NBA House, featuring Deron Williams and current WNBA player Myisha Hines-Allen, for local schools’ girls’ basketball teams and “Her Time to Play” students and coaches.
