The Public Security Police (PSP) apprehended an underage male student on Thursday for upskirting, PSP spokesman Wong Chi Weng said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Wong identified the suspect as a local student surnamed Tang.
According to Wong, the police received a report on Thursday from a woman in her thirties, who said that while using the escalator on the footbridge near Avenida do Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues (羅理基博士大馬路), she felt her skirt being lifted up by someone. When she turned around, she discovered Tang using a smartphone to take upskirt shots. She immediately called police for help.
Upon arrival, the police arrested Tang at the scene and found three photos and one video of the victim on his phone, as well as 64 photos and 49 videos depicting upskirt photos of other women captured in late September. Under questioning, Tang admitted to upskirting since late September, citing adolescent curiosity and attraction to females as his motivations.
Tang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a charge of invasion of privacy.
